About Us

QuickWood was founded in Denmark in 1975 and has been active in finish sanding for wood and metal parts ever since. Today QuickWood operates from the USA, UK, Germany, Italy and Denmark, and products ship from the location nearest you to keep shipping costs down.

Flap wheels have been used since the 1960s as an easy way to sand wood components and furniture parts without changing the sanding head every time a new profile comes along. QuickWood started producing flap wheels in 1990 and has since built more than 1,000,000 heads for customers all over the world.

What flap wheels are used for

Flap wheels handle aggressive sanding in the coarser grits and fine sanding in the finer grits. The most common job is the final sanding before stain and sealer. Sanding with a flap wheel cleans up the workpiece and removes the fine wood fibers standing in the surface of the wood.

Removing those fibers makes the part feel smooth, and it also makes the surface more uniform, so stain takes on a more even color. It reduces sealer consumption too: with the fibers gone, they cannot absorb the sealer, and a smoother sealer coat is the result.
